Applying for a job

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to apply for a job. So what should you expect when you do so?
From applying online through this website, to meeting your future Manager and team, we want to ensure you get a true picture of what it will be like to work for us.
If you’ve got any questions about our recruitment process, or want to provide us with some feedback, please get in touch at jobs@ecan.govt.nz

Application process

Once you've applied for an Environment Canterbury job online, you'll receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application. Please take note of the jobs closing date, as this will give you an indication when you will next hear from us. This provides us with time to review all applications against the specific job criteria requirements. If you require an update sooner, you can contact jobs@ecan.govt.NZ at any time to request assistance. See FAQ's for more assistance.

Application to interview stage

  1. You will be notified within 1-2 weeks of the job closing, if you have been selected to move to the next stage or not.

  2. If you're shortlisted, the next stage in the process is usually an interview with the Hiring Manager. You will be contacted to arrange a time.

After the interview

If we feel you may be right for the role, we'll move on to reference checking and other background checks.

If this all goes well, we'll offer you the job. Once you accept we'll agree on a starting date and your Environment Canterbury career will be under way!

Of course, your first job at Environment Canterbury maybe just a starting point.
